About Tim Fortune

Tim Fortune is an artist who`s work has been commissioned by prestigious individuals including Dame Elizabeth Frink and establishments such as Eton College and the National History Museum. He is also internationally in demand from architects and public authorities. His ideas are continually evolving and he is always finding a new creative direction. We are very lucky to have these pieces which exemplify his astonishing imagination and skill.

Exhibition History of Tim Fortune

1986 - Exhibited sculpture at Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts

1986 - One-man exhibition "Life in Iron" at Fire and Iron Gallery, Leatherhead - free standing and wall sculpture depicting plant and animal life.

1987 - Exhibited gate at Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts

1991 - Exhibited Gates depicting "The Four Humours" at the Avant Garden Exhibition, Barbican Centre, London and The Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh.

Biography / CV of Tim Fortune

Tim was born on the 31st March 1959 in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

1975 - 78

He worked as a Trainee Blacksmith in Shaftesbury, Dorset and completed the CoSIRA two-year training scheme at Wimbledon in Traditional Wrought Ironwork. Gained an award for being the most accomplished student.

1978 - 79

Attended Salisbury College of Art to qualify for degree course.

1979 - 82

Attended Mancehster Polytechnic. Awarded First Class Honours Degree in Three Diminsional Design, using metal as principal medium.


Set up workshop as Blacksmith and Ironwork Designer at Filleybrook Forge, Buckhorn Weston, Dorset.


Puchased new workshop in Henstridge, Somerset with improved facilities and equipment.


Puchased Riverside Blast Cleaning Services with additional workshop, giving facility for hot metal spraying - zinc, brass, copper, bronze.

Awards and Prizes of Tim Fortune

1987 - Awarded Addy Taylor Trophy for best exhibit at the New Iron Age International Exhibition, Hereford and the Building Centre, London.
1st Prize at the 2012 International Sculpture Festival
